Add an iPhone
EvidentlySo for Windows reads your iPhone’s messages from a backup of your iPhone on your PC.
What you need
- Your iPhone and its charging cable.
- Your iPhone’s passcode (the code you type to unlock it).
- A Windows PC with EvidentlySo for Windows installed.
- About an hour. The first backup can be slow.
Get Apple Devices
Apple Devices is Apple’s free app for Windows.
- On your PC, click Start, type Microsoft Store, and press Enter.
- In the search box at the top, type Apple Devices.
- Click Apple Devices, then click Get. Wait for it to install.
Back up your iPhone
- Unlock your iPhone: press the button on its side, then type your passcode.
- Plug the iPhone into the PC with its charging cable.
- On the PC, open Apple Devices.
- On the iPhone, a box asks “Trust This Computer?” Tap Trust, then type your passcode.
- On the PC, click your iPhone’s name on the left.
- Click General, then choose Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this computer.
- A backup password is optional. If you set one, write it down. Without it, nobody can open the backup, including you.
- Click Back Up Now. Leave the iPhone plugged in until the backup says it’s finished.
Make your PDF
- Open EvidentlySo on your PC.
- Click Add a phone, then iPhone, then Look again.
- Choose the backup you just made. If you set a password, type it.
- Choose a conversation and its dates, then click Generate PDF.
